I use 4000 psi concrete, not because it needs to be so strong but because it comes out nice and white, looking clean, professional, neat - and it lasts forever. I build to code - excepting "grand-fathered situations - meeting your particular need.
All my concrete has about 4" of compacted gravel under it. And it must be COMPACTED!
It MUST have steel in it! I use rebar and wire mesh, even though one or the other is sufficient, steel is cheap and assures a perfect, lasting job. It will have an ever so slight pitch for water to run away from the house, a non-skid finish, with crisp edging.
We can curve it like a snake or have sharp corners, whatever looks nice in your particular circumstance. It's custom made for you.
